Thanks to the persistent advocacy of Sara Jensen, one of the founding members of the “Build a Better Burtonsville” project, Montgomery County has agreed to fund, plan, and promote a “placemaking” festival in Burtonsville!

The two-day community festival will be held on October 5 and 6. The Montgomery County Planning Department will sponsor and manage the event, with support from the Better Block Foundation. Local residents, businesses, nonprofits, and community groups are invited to help plan and prepare the event. More information about the Burtonsville Placemaking effort is available at the Planning Department website.

Kick-Off Meeting

In the next few days, the event organizers will be hosting a community kickoff meeting to brainstorm ideas for the festival. We encourage everyone to attend!

  • Date: Tuesday, June 4
  • Time: 7-9 pm
  • Location: Burtonsville Elementary School, All Purpose Room
  • Purpose: learn about the goals of placemaking and discuss ideas for the festival
